Is 2 Meters Enough Distance for Coranavirus? Antipodes Talk #2

This video is in response to a question from my first Antipodes Talk. Here’s the question:

“It is so difficult to know exactly what you can do to protect yourselves as the information we hear is so conflicting! You said you are all staying in your home’s in New Zealand whilst here in the UK we are advised to go out for exercise.

“I walk 3miles every day! Thanks to you sorting my triggers and writing your book!) I live on the Moors and when I walk I stay well away from any other person however I am anxious that the virus can be carried along in the wind. My husband says it’s far more important to keep myself fit and healthy ( I had a heart operation 5 years ago) so that I maintain the good health I enjoy now.

“Walking is also good for my mental health too. So my question is :

“Why is 2 metres enough distance? Can this virus travel in the wind/ air?”

The next Antipodes talk will be about how to remain calm and in good spirits when world events are stressful.

Thanks for your uplifting post. And how about material things you buy in supermarkets and other shops. ‘It is said’ that the virus survives quite a long time on boxes, foods? clothes, metal utensils or surfaces? That really causes paranoia, doesn ‘t it?

    Hi Evelien
It can cause paranoia. However I think you can ‘reframe’ the information.
Firstly at this stage there is very little evidence that people have become sick from touching surfaces. Probably because it transmits such a tiny dose of virus.

However we have good evidence that the virus lives for up to 2-3 days on certain surfaces. So you create a clean zone and a dirty zone. You put anything you are worried about in the dirty zone and wash it appropriately. Make sure you then wash your hands and transfer it into your clean zone. You therefore can handle anything happily in this clean area.
    I hope this is helpful.

    Regards
    Jonathan
